Defamation

Defamation is the communication of a statement that makes a claim, expressly stated or implied to be factual, that may give a negative or inferior image or an individual or organisation and/or that would lead to avoid person or organisation

Defamation can be either written (known as Libel) or spoken (known as Slander). It can be a complex area of law and is continually being refined by numerous decisions of the High Court, the Court of Appeal and House of Lords as well as decisions of the European Court of Human Rights.
